🔥 Problems to Solve:
The user experience for video and related assets in Seismic is sub-standard and fragmented.  Users are increasingly savvy based on familiar commercial experiences like YouTube or Netflix, and due to the impact of remote work, have become increasingly comfortable playing the role of de facto content creators by utilizing Zoom, Chorus, or Gong in their day-to-day jobs-to-be-done.  These factors have driven our customers' demand for a more modern, feature-rich video capability as a core element of their post-pandemic sales enablement toolkit.
🎥 Proposed Solutions:
The Video Foundation project will provide the following new and enhanced functions:
1 Implementation of a standard and unified architecture, technical design, and content model across all Seismic product areas by introducing the Video Foundation Service (VFS) into the Seismic stack.  The VFS will be the primary integration point between applications and the third-party video platform and manage the communication and transmission of media and related assets (transcripts, captions, thumbnails, GIFs).
2 Introduction of New Playback and Record experiences through enhancements to Universal Player (UP) and User Generated Video Recorder (UGVR) to integrate with third-party video providers.  These integrations will deliver rich, video-first components and APIs to unlock heavily demanded features essential to a modern media user experience.
3 New Universal Upload and Download components that provide flexibility to application areas by allowing for configurable business logic in upload and download flows.  These new solutions will help direct content and facilitate workflows for related assets for both media content types, and traditional content types in Seismic.
4 Introduction of Video Editing Component(s) to provide a new experience to customers to allow them to edit videos or add text, images, graphics, calls-to-action, or other augmentations to the original video or related assets.  These features aid in content creation, personalization, or collaboration workflows and will serve as a differentiator for the Seismic offering.
